Troop 25
Committee Meeting
Attendance: Dan Snow, Committee Chair, Tom Rolfes,
Scoutmaster; Sue Graff, Committee Member; Don Hinds, Advancement Chair; Susan
Smith, Committee Member; Doug Barry Assistant Scoutmaster; Doug Gilg, Assistant Scoutmaster; Dan Shattil,
Treasurer; Deb Carney, Secretary.
Minutes: Minutes from the November meeting were
presented. Don made a motion to accept the minutes; Sue seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously. There are no minutes available
for the December Meeting.
Treasurer's Report: 4 letters have been
mailed dealing with negative balances. All Scouts' accounts
should balance or be positive prior to Court of Honor. Sue made the motion to
accept the Treasurer's report. Don Seconded. The motion passed
unanimously.
Revised Proposal for Troop Fee and Refund Policy: An
e-mail will be sent to Committee Members for approval. Main points
included: Dues split between Fall ($64) and Spring
($30). Scout Accounts stay with the Troop. Funds can be transfered between family members. A Scout leaving
the Troop can request that their account balance be transferred to a new Scout
Troop. A copy of this policy will be shared with the Church finance
committee after the Troop Committee approval. Much discussion was
held on Friends of Scouting. To earn Gold Star status with the Council,
the Troop needs to donate $45 per Scout. Gold Star benefits include Free
Rank Advancement, discounts on Council Activities, and a 10% discount off
any purchase made in the Trading Post in June. The goal of $45 per Scout needs to be reached by March 30. A
follow-up letter and pledge card will be sent to every T25 Family not in
attendance at the Court of Honor.
Advancement Report: Don presented the report. 26
merit badges have been earned. 10 rank advancements. More were
turned in tonight.
Eagle Update: Tony Smith and Logan Suhr
are planning their ceremonies. Eric Shellpepper
is waiting for response back from the National office. Nathan Glass is submitting
paperwork. Logan Hinds will have his Scoutmaster conference, then he's on to submit his paperwork.
New Advancement Chair needed. Don Hinds will
approach the WebelosII Den to see if any parent is
interested in assuming the Advancement Chair position. Those Scouts and parents
attending Philmont need to turn in the next payment, $300 ASAP.

Scoutmaster's Report:
Kids against Hunger - Sign up once a month,
volunteers needed for February 8.
Met with Pastor Aloway - 40 minute
meeting included discussion on transportation. There will be a web site
to assist with all scheduling. Discussed space, the need for us to grow
as a youth program, the possibility of having a room to make our own, hang
Scouting items on the walls. More visibility of the Troop, positive
feed back will help with our quest to get a new space in the church.
97th Scout Sunday: February 4, Scouts can wear uniform to
home denomination.
Youth Sunday: February 11, Scout participation may be needed
at St. Mark's; further discussion needed.
