Saturday, January 16, 2010,
leaving from St. Mark's parking lot at 7:45am and returning back to the
church in the early evening. Dan Steward has volunteered to coordinate
this event. Permission form, waiver form and check for payment
must be filled out and returned to the Scout meeting on Monday, January 11.
Although Dan was able to get
us a group rate, the prices are higher than last year and are
differentiated only by age, not by type of equipment. Family members and
friends are also invited to participate in this trip but must pay the
established fee, including the travel charge. Any driver hauling four or
more people will get their fuel costs reimbursed. (Drivers: Please fill
up your tank before leaving on Saturday and again upon your return and
save your post-trip fuel receipt)
We did not include the cost of
lunch in the price of the adventure, so you can either order off the
menu from the ski lodge cafeteria or bring yourself a sack lunch and/or
array of snacks. We may still discuss tailgate cooking in the parking lot,
if the weather is permissible.
Another change is that
National BSA has recently passed a policy requiring ALL Scouts,
ages 11-17, to wear a helmet while downhill skiing or snowboarding.
Helmets are also recommended for tubing and sledding. The price for
a helmet ($3) is included in the Youth package price, as we recommend
helmets for youth friends and family members.
